OUR STORY

Smith & Co Galleries began in 2019 with founder Solomon, whose love for art was rooted in a childhood memory: gazing at a framed print of Matisse’s La Musique in his parents’ flat. That sense of art as “home” stayed with him, and years later, after leaving behind a career in corporate sales, he found himself drawn into the art world almost by chance.

On an early trip to New York, Solomon recognised something missing in the industry. Interior designers were seeking artwork that was not only beautifully made and easy to specify, but also authentic pieces with cultural depth and a story to tell. That vision became Smith & Co’s founding mission: to create and curate art packages that resonate with a project’s sense of place, while arriving ready to hang, on time, and on budget.

Today, Solomon and the Smith & Co team work with a growing network of emerging artists, artisanal framers, and trusted printmakers across the globe. Each artwork we deliver is carefully considered, with storytelling elements that connect to the location it’s destined for; whether that’s a private residence, a hospitality space, or a large commercial project.

With production facilities in Europe, North America, and Australia, Smith & Co has grown into a global partner for interior designers, while remaining committed to its founding ethos: supporting artists, championing craft, and ensuring that every piece of art we supply brings authenticity, culture, and meaning to the spaces it inhabits.
